PB & Justice
About
The concept of the PB & Justice club came from traditions back at home. Every Sunday, my family and our neighbors would come together to make casseroles for a local shelter in Baltimore. All working in one kitchen, my parents would often facilitate conversations about the realities of homelessness and food insecurity in our nation and how important it was to be aware of our privilege and to stay informed.
We also talked about the importance of community and how volunteering our help in any way can make a real difference for those in need. These lessons stuck with me. So, the idea that my colleagues and I put together was to create this opportunity for students in The University of Maryland community.
It is our hope that by creating a space for discussion in PB & Justice, we can thoroughly question, on a consistent basis, the existence of equity for not only students on our campus but in the broader communities we live in.
